Observations
As I get my bearings with this newsletter, a few patterns are emerging. One is more is not always better.
A great example is the Gamma ad above. At first glance, there was less to highlight than many of the other touchpoints I’ve annotated, but, I see it as one of the better Linkedin ads I’ve come across.
I don’t have access to Gamma’s analytics, so I can’t say for sure, but the following is my qualitative assessment of the line: “If Canva and Notion had a baby”.
What a great way of getting your value proposition across. Take two industry juggernauts, whose products are about as popular as SAAS platforms can get, and claim to be a combo of the two.
What’s more, the phrasing stood out to me. It’s not how copywriters usually write.
It’s a lot closer to what a fun and casual review might say. I can see myself telling a friend something like it.My annotations seek to illuminate quantifiable similarities and differences between these various touchpoints.
Unquantifiable factors are likely more crucial to marketing success, and that is why this edition has this very observation section, to highlight something that would have been difficult to just put in a box and label “great copy”.
Thank you for reading.
